Kodak EasyShare V610

The good: Small size for 10x optical zoom; innovative dual-lens design; plenty of scene modes; in-camera panorama stitching.
The bad: Average image quality; no image stabilization; few manual controls; no manual white balance.
The bottom line: As one of the only pocketable cameras with a 10x zoom lens, the Kodak EasyShare V610 is on the cutting edge of design; we just wish the image quality were better.

Cellphones don't trigger cancer
Cellphones don't trigger cancer, big Danish study says LAURAN NEERGAARD WASHINGTON (AP) - A huge study from Denmark offers the latest reassurance that cellphones don't trigger cancer. Scientists tracked 420,000 Danish cellphone users, including 52,000 who had gabbed on the gadgets for 10 years or more, and some who started using them 21 years ago. They matched phone records to the famed Danish Cancer Registry that records every citizen who gets the disease, and reported Tuesday that cellphone callers are no more likely than anyone else to suffer a range of cancer types. Hello Kitty's phone

Yes, we're overdue for some Kitty lurve here at Gadget Buzz. So here're some handsets for the fans, courtesy of blog site Popgadget and manufactured by Taiwan firm OKWAP. Surprisingly, these pack a wallop in features, despite the tendency to pooh-pooh the phones as Sanrio collectors' dribble. The A268Kitty may appeal more to the sweet 16 crowd, but it reportedly comes with dual color screens, an onboard camera and bilingual dictionary. The A236Kitty, on the other hand, slides out to reveal a keypad, touchscreen and stylus. Not bad for something that looks like a toy. Also spotted was the A279Kitty which, despite its "don't' take me seriously" faade, is seriously featured with a pedometer, bilingual dictionary, MP3 player, camera, FM tuner, 100MB onboard memory, and a strip of LED lights on the front panel which acts like Scientific Oregon's projection clocks. This one lets you type a short message where waving your phone will activate the Wave Messaging feature and display your text in the air. How cool is that? And what would the celebrity feline be without matching phone charms, pouches and wallpapers bundled with the phones? Comes pretty in pink, naturally.

The next notebook battery
Source : news.com.com
A battery technology that was touted nine years ago for notebooks may finally get its day in the sun.

Notebook makers will "likely" soon choose to incorporate lithium polymer batteries over the current commonly used type, lithium ion batteries, Sony Electronics President Stan Glasgow said during a meeting with reporters Wednesday.
Stan Glasgow Stan Glasgow

Lithium polymer batteries use lithium as an active ingredient. Lithium is a volatile material, but the lithium in these batteries isn't packed into cells as it is in lithium ion batteries. Instead, it is contained in a polymer gel. These gel batteries can't provide the same sort of energy density as lithium ion batteries, but that's now a plus.

Manufacturers, and in particular Sony, have pushed the energy density (or capacity) of lithium ion batteries. When an internal short occurs, it can set off a chain reaction and start a fire. Dell, Lenovo, Toshiba, Apple Computer and others, in conjunction with Sony, have offered to take back millions of lithium ion batteries shipped with particular notebooks in the past two years. Dell XPS M2010

The good: Sleek, attention-getting design; high quality, adjustable 20-inch LCD; speakers offer crisp, rich audio; detachable Bluetooth keyboard and Media Center remote will work well from the couch or during a presentation; top-of-the-line components deliver high overall performance and competent gaming capability.
The bad: Absurdly expensive; TV tuner and some other A/V connections aren't built in; too heavy to be truly portable.
The bottom line: A striking feat of engineering that's sure to garner attention in a stylish home or on a multimedia-intensive sales call, the Dell XPS M2010 is simply too expensive.
