ASUS Lamborghini VX2

It may not have Fernando Alonso behind the wheel, but the latest version of the Lamborghini laptop looks like it has the pure muscle to snap most benchmarks in two and still have time to grab a beer and pizza. Based on the Core 2 Duo platform, it boasts a high-end video card as well as the next-generation draft-N wireless service. Combined with its sleek profile, those willing to pay a premium for looks and performance will certainly be enticed by the ASUS Lamborghini VX2.

HP Pavilion dv9100

The good: Competitively priced; HDMI output; excellent graphics performance; remote control; integrated Webcam; dual hard drive bays.
The bad: Non-swappable optical drive bay; no TV tuner; no Windows XP Media Center Edition option.
The bottom line: It may not be much of a productivity performer, but plug in an external TV tuner and the HP Pavilion dv9100 would more than satisfy your entertainment and gaming needs.

Dell Latitude D420

The good: Slim, lightweight design; full-size keyboard; Wi-Fi Catcher works even when system is powered off.
The bad: High native resolution means tiny type; only one CPU choice.
The bottom line: Dell's smallest business laptop, the Latitude D420 manages to combine decent specs with a convenient form factor, even if it's not all that configurable.

Fujitsu LifeBook A3110

The good: Snazzy pearl-white finish; shock sensor utility protects hard drive.
The bad: Woeful battery life; not configurable.
The bottom line: If you want that white MacBook look without buying a Mac, the Fujitsu LifeBook A3110 is pretty much the only game in town, as long as you're happy with the set-in-stone default specs and poor battery life.

The next notebook battery
Source : news.com.com
A battery technology that was touted nine years ago for notebooks may finally get its day in the sun.

Notebook makers will "likely" soon choose to incorporate lithium polymer batteries over the current commonly used type, lithium ion batteries, Sony Electronics President Stan Glasgow said during a meeting with reporters Wednesday.
Stan Glasgow Stan Glasgow

Lithium polymer batteries use lithium as an active ingredient. Lithium is a volatile material, but the lithium in these batteries isn't packed into cells as it is in lithium ion batteries. Instead, it is contained in a polymer gel. These gel batteries can't provide the same sort of energy density as lithium ion batteries, but that's now a plus.

Manufacturers, and in particular Sony, have pushed the energy density (or capacity) of lithium ion batteries. When an internal short occurs, it can set off a chain reaction and start a fire. Dell, Lenovo, Toshiba, Apple Computer and others, in conjunction with Sony, have offered to take back millions of lithium ion batteries shipped with particular notebooks in the past two years. Dell XPS M2010

The good: Sleek, attention-getting design; high quality, adjustable 20-inch LCD; speakers offer crisp, rich audio; detachable Bluetooth keyboard and Media Center remote will work well from the couch or during a presentation; top-of-the-line components deliver high overall performance and competent gaming capability.
The bad: Absurdly expensive; TV tuner and some other A/V connections aren't built in; too heavy to be truly portable.
The bottom line: A striking feat of engineering that's sure to garner attention in a stylish home or on a multimedia-intensive sales call, the Dell XPS M2010 is simply too expensive.

ThinkPad X60

The good: Extremely portable design; excellent keyboard; fingerprint reader; integrated WWAN radio; great performance; incredibly long battery life when configured with high-capacity battery.
The bad: More expensive than comparable models; lacks built-in optical drive; lacks built-in support for ExpressCards.
The bottom line: The first ultraportable to accommodate Intel's Core Duo processor, the ThinkPad X60s combines blazing performance and incredible battery life with a full feature set and a compact case. We like it.

Acer Ferari 4000

The Ferrari is fitted with the high-end AMD Turion 64 ML-37 (2.0GHz) sporting a 1MB L2 cache, essentially a more energy-efficient version of the desktop Athlon 64 chip. Other components include 1GB DDR SDRAM and huge 100GB drive split into two 50GB partitions. 3D rendering is once again handled by the 128MB ATI Mobility Radeon X700 graphics engine. The optical drive remains as a DVD±RW burner with DVD+R dual-layer support, though it is changed to a slot-in from the modular tray design.
There is a wide range of ports and slots such as four USB 2.0, FireWire, S/PDIF digital audio interface, a 5-in-1 flash card reader (SD/MMC/MS/MS PRO/xD), S-video out and DVI-D for excellent visuals on external monitors. You've no shortage of networking options with Bluetooth, Gigabit Ethernet, modem, fast infrared and the ability to surf on 802.11b/g wireless LAN.

Acer Aspire 5000 series

The good: Good performance; affordable 15.4-inch notebook; Multiformat DVD burner.
The bad: Poor battery life; limited connectivity; one-year warranty.
The bottom line: This Acer may appeal to those who want affordability though we'd recommend the 1680 or 1690 for their better value.
